He who controls the Spice, controls the universe! (Frank Herbert, Dune)

Thus said a fictional character in one of science fiction's popular books. It is sad that his words can be literally translated to today's world, where one substance and one substance only, controls the destiny of millions. This statement might be slightly exaggerated, but Oil is the driving force behind the world's economy for over a hundred years.
And there is the myth: world's oil reserves are running out. Soon there will be no more Oil, and we will be doomed. Our cars, trucks, boats and airplanes will stop. The world as we know it will cease to exist...
Well, this is a bunch of nonsense if you ask me. World's oil reserves are far from depleted, and more are found each day. Some may be harder to exploit than the others but we are still not in danger as someone would like us to think.
This fact though doesn't stop certain faction's greed toward the oil. Wars are started and fought, endless people on both sides are killed and maimed, and all for the greed of a very small group of people.

More on this will come later since it's time to pay attention to regular wordly things that obviously don't bother those greedy for oil.

Did the world go mad?

Did we go mad?

Or did someone decide to control the world's supply of oil ...

I'm trying to find the answers to these questions, and in the meanwhile every time I turn on the television I see children dying. A few years ago i was actually sure that ignorance is bliss (let me paraphrase a popular movie quote) and i stopped watching television, listening to radio and reading newspapers in an illusion that the problems will go away.
Well, the illusion lasted for a while, and then it shattered into a few million pieces. The reality caught up with me, and that is the reason I decided to start this writing, and share some of my thoughts with the rest of those that might find them interesting.

For now the question of the day:

Why do we have to see children dying every time we turn on the television. Is it really a conflict between these people, or someone is causing this conflicts for their own goals?

All that is left is to think about this while the media experience the highest ratings in the last 10 years.
